
The NCOA database validation is based on data submitted to the United States Postal Service from individuals, families, and businesses who are changing their place of residence or business location.
The United States Postal Service has identified the following as the top reasons for undeliverable mail:

- Addressee's name misspelled
- Missing address line or street name
- Missing house number/ P.O. Box
- Incorrect or missing ZIP Code
- Incorrect or missing city and/or state
- Change of address on file
- Forward order expired
- Moved, left no address/box closed, left no order
- Address vacant
NCOA Direct has the highest level of data services based on our full access license.
Our data file contains 160 million permanent change of address records of both business and homes.
If a business or consumer has moved multiple times within our 48 month time period NCOA Direct can provide you with a "Linked" or "chained" data file to ensure the latest address is furnished when an NCOA match is obtained.
